If you're interested in food and nutrition, you'll want to know about a web site called NutritionData.com. Developed by Ron and Lori Johnson of Casa Grande, Arizona, the site provides several free tools based on nutrition information from the US Department of Agriculture and findings from peer-reviewed nutrition studies. The site has a very high information to noise ratio.
The Johnsons have developed an index they call the Fullness Factor™ to designate how well specific foods will satiate your hunger. As they acknowledge, research in the area of satiation is far from complete, but I'm familiar with the primary study they refer to, The Satiety Index of Common Foods.
The site also provides a feature called the Food Category Explorer. It has two components.
One is the Caloric Ratio Pyramid™, which uses data from the publicly-available USDA nutrition database. This tool allows you to find foods with specific ratios of protein, carbohydrate, and fat.
The other is the Nutritional Target Map™, which uses the USDA data set and the Johnson's Fullness Factor to find foods that are both filling and nutritious.
This overview is based on a quick exploration of the NutritionData.com site. There's a lot more of interest here.
